After shutting down their factory in Nigeria 20 years ago, German carmaker, Volkswagen has produced its first set of cars in Nigeria.
The All Progressives Congress revealed this on its Twitter handle Thursday morning, saying that the company recently unveiled different models including Passat, Jetta & CC.
It also said that the company has plans underway to produce 2 million cars in Nigeria through their complete knockdown assembly plant.
Apart from this being a huge step in the right direction in terms of development, the APC hinted that through this, employment opportunities would be opened to unemployed Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Nigerians seem not to be taking the news well. While some say the news is false, others accuse the Nigerian government of promoting a German car company with little or no mention of the local company, Innoson.
