Yaya Toure Signs For Chinese Club Qingdao Huanghai
Former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has signed for Chinese second tier club, Qingdao Huanghai.
The 36-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder has not played since having his contract at Greek side Olympiakos terminated in December 2018.
He had to deny he had retired in May after his agent said he had “ended his career as a champion”.
Toure said: “Since the start of my football career, I have always loved challenges and now I have decided to take this new challenge and make history once again with Qingdao Huanghai Football Club!” said the Premier League winner in a statement on his official website.
“This is a very exciting young club with a lot of potential and we share the same philosophy – that is to play beautiful football! It will be my great honour to grow and succeed with this club,” he said.
Qingdao are top of Chinese League One but have never played in the top flight.
