Vardy, Dyche & Salah scoop EPL awards for March
The trio of Jamie Vardy, Sean Dyche and Mohammed Salah have emerged winners of the English Premier League (EPL) Goal of the Month, Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards for the month of March respectively.
Leceister City forward, Vardy, 31, became the 17th individual to win the Carling sponsored award for his left-footed volley against West Brom at the Hawthorns to help his side to a 2-1 victory. He bested the likes of assist provider, Riyad Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Nemanja Matic and Marcus Rashford for the award. The goal which was his 15th of the current campaign served as a stark reminder of how lethal the Englishman can be on form.
Burnley FC’s 3 wins in 3 games against West Ham, Everton and West Brom were enough to secure manager, Dyche, 46, the EA Sports Manager of the Month for the month of March. The Englishman took the nod over the likes of Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola and Claude Puel after a run that sees his name in contention for an Europa League spot next season. “I’m really pleased for myself and my staff but particularly my players, they are having a really outstanding season. Once we got that big win against Everton – and the first time we had turned a result around as well – we continued that with some fine form, so I’m very pleased,” said Dyche.
For the coveted Player of the Month award, Liverpool and Egypt attacker, Salah, 25, became the first player in the history to hold the title three times in the same season. Salah’s 6 goals and 1 assist in the month of March were deemed sufficient to edge out the likes of Son Heung Min, Romelu Lukaku, Chris Wood, Cenk Tosun and David Silva.
Speaking at the award presentation, Salah said: “I feel good to win it again, we had good results in the month so that’s the most important thing. I’m very proud to see myself fighting to break the record for the Premier League. I’m thinking about each game. That’s my target, I want to score, I want to help the team to win again.”
The EPL returns to action this weekend with the clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City the pick of bunch.
