Transfer Update: Juventus May Swap Dybala for Inter’s Icardi
SWITZERLAND, AUGUST 9 – Juventus could be forced into swapping Paulo Dybala for Mauro Icardi with Inter before the transfer window shuts, according to Corriere della Sera.
The Nerazzurri got one over on their arch rivals this week by securing a deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United, and it could have serious repercussions on the remainder of the summer.
Juve’s hopes of swapping Dybala for Lukaku were betrayed by La Joya’s decision to reject United, perhaps having been encouraged to do so by Beppe Marotta.
If they wish to avoid a deal with Inter, they will have to hope Paris Saint-Germain arrive with a big-money offer for the forward, but this is unlikely to happen until Neymar has sorted his own future.
Gonzalo Higuain is being linked with a move to Roma while Mario Mandzukic could make a return to the Bundesliga.
Juve will need both of those sales to materialise if they don’t want to sit down with Inter, because at the moment they need to offload two strikers before they can bring in one.
Icardi has been a transfer target for Fabio Paratici for several months, who hoped to secure the 26-year-old on the cheap at the end of August.
Inter now have more power in negotiations than the Bianconeri, though, and could inflict upon them the deal they hoped to avoid at all costs.
CdS also confirmed Ivan Perisic was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich on loan.
