Brazilian star, Neymar joined PSG for a world-record £198million in the summer of 2017, signing a five-year contract.

But the forward is set to cut short his stay in Paris after just two seasons, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.

The outlet claims Neymar sees his future away from the Ligue 1 champions, for whom he has scored 51 goals in 58 appearances.

More surprisingly, the club are willing to facilitate his departure should they receive the right offer. Real Madrid have long been linked with Neymar ever since it became clear the forward would leave Barcelona two years ago.

Los Blancos have already spent over £272m this transfer window, though, which could make the transfer difficult given Financial Fair Play restraints.

There have been murmurs in the past that Barcelona would welcome back Neymar, but the Catalans are expected to buy forward Antoine Griezmann for nine figures from Atletico Madrid.

Speaking earlier this season, Neymar’s father was coy over his son’s future in a conversation with Telefoot.

The first year was a year of adaptation, a new experience,” he said. “He feels very happy in Paris. He is happy, and he is growing up with PSG.

“His future is in Paris, his present is in Paris. It’s hard to talk about the future because in football, it can change at any time.”

The news comes one day after former PSG midfielder Leonardo was re-appointed sporting director, having left the post in 2013.

One of the the Brazilian’s first big decisions is to offload his countryman, who earns a reported £445,000 a week at Parc des Princes. PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi said Leonardo would take the club in a new direction upon his appointment on Friday.

“Paris St-Germain has always remained his family and we are delighted to welcome him back,” Al-Khelaifi said.

“His return, with his enthusiasm and talent, will bring the club into a new ambitious cycle and I am sure that this reunion will bring happiness to the Parc des Princes, which has always kept Leo in its heart.”
