Official: Barca Unveil Antoine Griezmann
Spanish giants FC Barcelona unveiled Antoine Griezmann yesterday at Camp Nou following his €120 million transfer, and revealed the Frenchman’s new shirt number amid reports claiming he would take Philippe Coutinho’s No. 7 shirt.
The 28-year-old forward was announced as a Barcelona player on Friday after the LaLiga champions paid his €120 million release clause, and he was unveiled on Sunday, even though Atletico Madrid are insisting Barca still need to pay them an additional €80 million.
It was claimed Griezmann would get Coutinho’s No. 7 shirt, but he was unveiled as Barca’s new No. 17.
“I was keen to come here, and my family was behind me,” he said at his unveiling.
“For me, it’s a big club and I hope to help it to continue being big or make it even bigger.
“I’m really looking forward to working with my new teammates and with the boss, and playing at the Camp Nou and hopefully winning a lot of things.
“I want to thank Real Sociedad, they have given me my first professional contract and they believed in me. I also would like to thank Atletico Madrid and (Diego) Simeone. They all helped me to become the player I am today.”
