Harry Kane Awarded Controversial Goal, Salah Reacts
Tottenham Hotspur talisman, Harry Kane, has been awarded the second goal in their 2-1 win over Stoke City last weekend by the Premier League Goal Accreditation Panel.
The goal which was originally awarded to teammate, Christian Eriksen, has now gone to Harry Kane, moving his premier league goal tally to 25 and 37 in all competitions.
After the game, Kane took to Twitter to claim the goal, saying it came off his shoulder while calling on the BBC Match of the Day team to champion his cause during their broadcast. Kane took a step further in proving his innocence by swearing on the life of his daughter to everyone’s dismay. “I swear on my daughter’s life that I touched the ball! But there’s nothing I can do,” Kane said.
Eriksen admitted after the match that the goal had caused a lot of argument in-house but concluded that if Kane is convinced then he should be awarded the goal. “I think Harry, if he touched it, he touched it and it’s his goal. How he celebrated, he had the feeling he touched the ball,” Eriksen said.
The strike which would have moved Eriksen to 13 in all competitions—a personal record—was shockingly contested by the club as they moved to appease their topscorer.
Premier League leading goal scorer, Mohammed Salah took to Twitter to express his bewilderment in two words: ‘’Wooooow Really?’’
Kane resumes his campaign for a third successive Premier League golden boot campaign this Saturday when Tottenham play host to runaway leaders, Manchester City at the Wembley Stadium.
