SWITZERLAND, JULY 09 – A protest by the members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria(IMN) also known as Shiites at the National Assembly on Tuesday has turned bloody after police opened on the protesters.
Police reportedly gunned down dozens of protesters after the protesters attacked security forces, injuring a number of them.
Today’s Echo gathers Shiites stormed the National Assembly earlier on Tuesday demanding to know the whereabouts of their leader, Shiekh Ibrahim Elzak-zaky.
The Protesters reportedly attacked security officials stationed at the National Assembly, seriously injuring one of the police officers. According to media reports, two policemen were injured by members of Islamic sect Shiites and were referred to the National Hospital for immediate medical attention from the National Assembly Clinic.
“One of them, soaked in blood, was badly beaten by the rampaging Shi’ite members. He was gasping by the time the vehicle that took him to the National Hospital arrived,” a report by a national newspaper reads.
