Senate: Omo Agege Emerges Deputy Despite Allegations of Mace Snatching

SWITZERLAND, JUNE 11 – Senator Ovie Omo Agege from Delta State has emerged the Deputy Senate president, despite allegations that he masterminded the snatching of the Senate mace last year.

In the vote that took place on Tuesday at the floor of the Senate house, Omo Agege of the APC polled 68 votes to defeat incumbent, Ike Ekweremadu of the PDP who got 38 votes.

Senator Omo Agege has been sworn in as the Deputy Senate President of the Ninth National Assembly shortly after the new Senate president Ahmed Lawan was sworn in.

APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomole, who was in the chamber to monitor proceedings, was seen in a jubilant mood.
