SWITZERLAND, AUGUST 19 – Prominent government critic and opposition PDP publicist, Reno Omokri has mocked Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka after the police sealed the venue of a symposium in which he was a speaker.

Today’s Echo reported that security forces sealed off the venue of a symposium where Wole Soyinka, Femi Falana and other prominent intellectuals were scheduled to address the state of insecurity in the country.

The programme organised by a group known as Coalition for Revolution (CORE) was billed to hold at 46, Ibijoke street, Oluyole bus-stop, Oregun, Lagos.

It has as its theme: “Democracy, State Repression and the State of insecurity in Nigeria”.

Today’s Echo gathered that the government’s response may have been influenced by the identity of the organnizers, who are also behind the RevolutionNow protest.

“Wole Soyinka co-created the Frankenstein monster that General Buhari has become with his ‘anyone but Jonathan’ mantra. Now Jonathan is OUT of POWER and Soyinka is OUT of FREEDOM and he wants us to come OUT on the streets? No. Enjoy your monster!” Reno Omokri wrote via a tweet on Monday.

“So disappointed that a Professor, who is also a Nobel Laureate, expected a man of doubtful school certificate to be his messiah. Soyinka is crying dictatorship? Dry your crocodile tears. You produced & directed the nightmare starring General Buhari.

“Soyinka and co REMOVED Jonathan, whose “political ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian” and CROWNED Buhari who threatened that “the dog and baboon will be soaked in blood” and they are surprised when there is blood all over Nigeria?”

Today’s ECho gathers that, as at the time of filing this report, the police have allowed the organizers and guests of the symposium to enter the venue. Femi Falana and others are reportedly inside.
