Presidency confirms the release of Dapchi girls

The presidency has released an official statement on the release of the kidnapped Dapchi girls.

This morning, a report appeared in the media that the 110 girls abducted in the Yobe State town of dapchi by Boko Haram militants have been returned to their parents.  Sahara Reporters, a Nigerian online news outlet had reported that 105 girls were returned because 5 of the girls had been killed.

Below is the presidency’s statement on Twitter:

“Details about the released Dapchi girls will be made available in due course. The girls are now in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), in Dapchi. The DSS will be briefing the President and the nation in the course of the day.”
