As Atiku calls for Microsoft experts, Presidency says Bill Gates congratulated Buhari

Bill Gates, founder of IT giant, Microsoft, has called President Muhammadu Buhari to congratulate him on his re-election, according to the presidency

“Yesterday night, one of the world’s richest men, Bill Gates called President Buhari to congratulate him on his resounding election victory, winning a second four-year term of office,” Bashir Ahmad, the president’s Personal Assistant on New Media said on Wednesday evening

“Mr. Bill Gates said he’s happy to be associated with President Buhari, restated his commitment to the success of the administration as well as the progress, prosperity and well-being of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He also expressed willingness to do more for the country.”

Garba Shehu, The Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity also released a statement on Bill Gates’ alleged call.

“Speaking in a telephone call to congratulate the President upon his resounding election victory, winning a second four-year term of office, Mr. Gates, who said he was happy to be associated with the President, restated his commitment to the success of the administration
as well as the progress, prosperity and well-being of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He expressed willingness to do more for the country.”

According to Shehu, President Buhari reiterated his opinion that Mr Gates’ wealth has benefited Nigeria’s development, and expressed appreciation for the call.

“I am very happy the way your projects have touched the life of the average Nigerian. The people of this country have given their verdict. This verdict says we have to work hard to meet their expectations. God willing, we will not fail, ” the President told Gates, according to Shehu.

Bill Gates’ call is coming at a time when opposition leader and presidential candidate of the PDP in the last election, Atiku Abubakar has expressed intention to bring in experts from tech firms including Microsoft to prove his argument that the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) shows he won the election
