Vice Presidential candidate of the opposition PDP in the 2019 elections, Peter Obi has been hospitalized in Anambra after complaining of fever, Today’s Echo gathers.
The news of Peter Obi’s illness was disclosed by his media aide, Valentine Obienyem.
“Yesterday, when I left his house at 9pm, he complained of being a little feverish. Today, on entering the house at 7:30 am (his routine has not changed significantly), I was informed that he went to Queen of the Rosary Hospital, Waterside, Onitsha. Very soon he was back. Anambra hospital abandoned after N25m renovation by govt I learnt he went to the hospital, saw a doctor and had samples taken for tests. As usual, he went straight to work even when I suspected that Doctor might have advised bed rest. We were at work till the departure to Lagos in the afternoon,” Obienyem told news men on Tuesday.
Obi’s visit to the hospital sparked rumours that he had a heart attack and many people began to wish him quick recovery.
Kayode Ogundamisi, influential Twitter activist and prominent supporter of the APC regime referred to a report by a mainstream media outfit while wishing the Obi, who is a former governor of Anambra State, quick recovery.
However, Obi’s aide, Valentine Obienyem has debunked rumours that his boss was hospitalized for a heart attack.
“Yesterday, I posted a report of how the former Governor of Anambra State felt a bit feverish and had to visit a Hospital at Onitsha,” he said.
“I equally reported that he returned and went straight to office to continue his work. We spent the whole day planning on the focus of his next apostolate: support to 50 selected hospitals.
“Today, the reckless fringe twisted the report that Obi suffered a heart attack. I should believe that anybody capable of coming out with such a wicked and twisted lie is as well as wishing him dead. But the sooner they realize that God is the creator and custodian of all lives, the better for them.
“May I therefore use this medium to inform the public that Obi did not suffer any heart attack or any debilitating illness. He felt a bit feverish, which is one of the pangs of humanity, visited a hospital in Anambra State and that is all. Mr. Peter Obi is hale and hearty.”
