SWITZERLAND, JUNE 08 – The presidency has stated that over 1,400 terrorists presumably from the Boko Haram and Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP) groups have been killed in the last two months.
This was disclosed by the presidency on Monday after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Tukur Buratai briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the progress of the fight in the North-East since the COAS relocated to Borno State to oversee operations.
According to the presidency, 166 informants and couriers for the terrorists have also been arrested.
“Two months ago the Chief of Army Staff relocated to Borno State to oversee a ramping up of anti-insurgency operations. He briefed the President today on the outcome so far. More than 1,400 terrorists killed, and 166 informants and couriers arrested. The operations continue,” the presidency tweeted.
