Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has commissioned two newly acquired aircraft at the Nigerian Air Force 55th Anniversary on Monday.
The two Agusta 109 Power Helicopters were recently acquired for the Nigerian Air Force to enhance its capacity in its battle against terrorism.
Speaking at the even, Osinbajo, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari said:
“These helicopters and other additional helicopters expected to arrive in the next few months will surely boost performance of the Nigerian Air Force constitutional roles.
“I therefore charge you to redouble your efforts towards protecting our national interests, while at the same time degrading national security threats. I have no doubt that the employment of the newly acquired platforms in addition to the Super Tucano aircraft which would be delivered in 2020, would add impetus to the combat efficiency of the Nigerian Air Force.”
The 55th Anniversary Celebration of the Nigeria Air Force started on 27 April 2019, with Research and Development (R&D) Competition/Exhibition and Anniversary Lecture, and came to a climax on Monday at the Eagle Square in Abuja with a colourful and exciting Ceremonial Parade, K-9/Special Forces Display as well as a thrilling Order of Battle (ORBAT) Flypast and Aerial display by some of the platforms in the inventory of the NAF.
