The former governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has described the recent armed robbery attack in Offa, Kwara State, as a terrorist attack.
17 people were killed on April 5 when gun men stormed 5 banks in the town of Ofa, Kwara state. The Kwara state governor, Abdulfatah Armed has declared a N5 million bounty on the perpetrators of the dastardly act, which is said to be the most deadly armed robbery attack in the history of Kwara state.
See Dr Mimiko’s tweet below:
The Offa ‘armed robbery’ was most likely a terrorist attack. Was a clear pointer to our general vulnerability, not only in the villages but also in our cities. We have to urgently review our security architecture, transparently deepen our investment and DECENTRALIZE the police!

IT IS VERY UNFORTUNATE THAT THE NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE WERE UN ABLE TO CONFRONT THOSE TERRORIST WHO CAME IN THE NAME OF ARMED ROBBERS WHY THEY ARE NOT ROBBERS,THEY ARE NOTHING BUT TERRORIST GROUP.
THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY WERE BUSY CELEBRATING NIGERIA POPULATION WHICH THEY SAY IS 198MILLION ,EVEN IF WE ARE 1BILLION WHAT KIND OF ACHIEVEMENT CAN WE BOAST OF NOW?IT IS A SHAME TO LAI MOHAMED WHO KEEP TELLING LIES AT HIS AGE WHAT WOULD HIS CHILDREN SAY WHEN THEY SAW THEIR FATHER ON A TELEVISION LYING TO THE MASSES OF NIGERIA?GOD WILL PUNISH HIM AND THOSE COUP PLOTTERS THAT ARE STILL HANGING ON TO POWER,THEY WILL ALL DIE ONE AFTER THE OTHER IN JESUS NAME AMEN.
It is true that security is terrible in Nigeria and we agree that the police could have done better in preventing or thwarting the Offa robbery.
