SWITZERLAND, JUNE 26 – Opposition figure and government critic, Reno Omokri has reacted to a video in which the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila bowed to Lagos godfather and national leader of APC, Bola Tinubu.
Gbajabiamila is believed to be one of Tinubu’s boys and is reported to have owe strong allegiance to the APC chieftain.
Also, earlier, there was an image of deputy Senate President, Omo Agege kneeling down to President Buhari.
According to Omokri, this is an indication that the current ninth National Assembly will not be independent of the Executive.
Omokri wrote on Twitter:
“Video of Speaker Gbajabiamila bowing to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in Lagos. Somehow, I do not think Nigeria will have an Independent Legislature with a Deputy Senate President who kneels down to General Buhari and a House of Representatives Speaker who bows to Tinubu.”
Omokri’s statement has elicited mixed reactions with many supporting his stance and others saying Gbajabiamila is only acting in line with Yoruba culture which stipulates paying homage to elders.
