President Muhammadu Buhari has come under heavy criticism after saying that the Kano State governor, Umar Ganduje is a responsible leader. Ganduje became embroiled in a bribery scandal after several videos of him receiving bundles dollar notes alleged to be bribes from contracts awarded by the state government.
The president has been notably silent over the issue since it first broke last month, but was questioned about it while meeting with the Nigerian community in Paris, France on Monday, November 12, 2018.
According to a report by Channels Television, when one of the participants asked the president what his government was doing about the allegations, he deflected by praising the governor for “doing so much”.
“I commend the governor for doing so much. He once invited me and I went to Kano. The good projects started by Kwankwaso in education and healthcare, Ganduje completed them.
“He completed the projects and now the people of Kano are enjoying the benefit. I think that is very responsible of him.”
Below are some of the comments on Twitter:
It is very responsible of him (Ganduje) for completing projects he met that Kano people are now enjoying…per the video attached to the tweet. The president’s description is directed at something in particluar, not in a general manner. The video says it all. https://t.co/apVYqES8oP

Ganduje caught pants down dipping his hands into Kano treasury, PMB tags him as responsible.
Kwankwaso, whose giant strides in Kano were commended even by his crudest critics and has never been caught with dollars, PMB insulted.
PMB is either irresponsible, clueless or both.
