Nigerians have taken to the social media to react to reports that president Muhammadu Buhari will visit Lagos on Wednesday after discovering that one of the projects he will commission; the Oshodi Interchange, has not been completed.
The Iconic Oshodi transport interchange is a project of the Lagos state government aimed at enhancing seamless movement of traffic across Lagos and also to beautify the city. Construction started in early 2017.
In June 2018, the Lagos state goverment announced that contractors have completed the hoisting of Skywalk Bridge linking terminals one and two of the interchange. In November 2018, the government said the project was 83 per cent completed and would be finished in the first quarter of 2019.
However, recent photos of the monumental project indicates that it is far from completed. Many Nigerians have therefore, expressed their concern over the development, with many criticizing the government.
“President Buhari is coming to Lagos tomorrow to commission another uncompleted project. like the Oshodi interchange A precedence has been set last year. The Ikeja bus terminal he commissioned was still under construction and it was pulled down after he commissioned it. Lifeless.” Eniola Daniel, a Twitter user said
“So your President is coming to Lagos tomorrow to commission an uncompleted project at Oshodi. Please we don’t want any obstruction of free flow of traffic with your unnecessary fanfare and stupid commissioning, ” another Twitter user, Balogun Medinah took a swipe at both the Federal and State governments.
