Nigerian Air force deploys fighter jets to Katsina, Zamfara(photos)

Ostensibly in an effort to combat armed banditry in the North-West, the Nigerian Air Force has deployed fighter  jets with heavy military equipment to Katsina and Zamfara.

The Air force also announced that it has been directed by the president to commence “Operation Diran Mikiya” against armed banditry in Zamfara and other states in the North-West.

Air Force spokesman, Air Vice Marshal Adesanya announced the development yesterday in statements that were retweeted by the presidency.

AVM Adesanya’s tweets read:

“In compliance with the directives of Mr President, C-in-C, has deployed an array of additional air assets, equipment, manpower and logistics to Katsina as part of efforts to intensify the fight against armed banditry in the Northwest..”

“Accordingly, has commenced OPERATION DIRAN MIKIYA, an intensive air operation aimed at seeking out, pursuing and neutralizing the armed bandits.”

The solicits credible intelligence from locals, traditional heads, local government chairmen and other government officials to enhance timely and effective accomplishment of the task to restore normalcy to Zamfara State and environs.”
