Mysterious Deaths in the North Continue as Buhari Loses Nephew in Daura

SWITZERLAND, MAY 09 – The Presidency has announced the death of of President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, Alhaji Mutari Dauda in Daura, Katsina State. Dauda is also the younger brother to a close family member of the president, Mamman Daura.

Dauda’s death follows a recent string of deaths across the northern region. Today’s Echo gathers that many prominent people in Katsina, Borno, Kano and Jigawa have died in the past two weeks. These include three Emirs, several professors, House of Assembly members and even fathers of prominent politicians like Aminu Tambuwal. It has not been established that these deaths were caused by COVID-19 but there are increasing calls for investigation.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has consoled the members of his extended family and Daura community at large following the death of his nephew, Alhaji Mutari Dauda, Mallam Mamman Daura’s younger brother.

“What we owe the dead are not tears, because our tears can’t bring them back, but what they deserve are our prayers. In this regard, my heart and prayers go out to all the family members and the Daura community as a whole over this irreparable loss.

“May Allah forgive his gentle soul and reward his goods deeds with aljanna,” Media aide to the president, Garba Shehu. tweeted on Friday.
