SWITZERLAND, JULY 08 – The Lagos State Health Management Agency LASHMA on Monday commenced sensitisation and awareness programme on the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
The LSHS, provides direct access to health services for residents of the State at a pocket friendly cost.
According to the General Manager LASHMA, Dr. Peju Adenusi, the health scheme is mandatory for all residents of the State. She further reiterated that quality health services would be accessible to all enrollees regardless of social background.
In order to further drive this scheme, LASHMA collaborated with Health Maintenance Organisations to reach out to all Lagosians across the 20 Local Govt. Areas of the Lagos State
In May, 2019, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris revealed that 120,000 residents have registered under the LSHS.
According to him, so far, 150 private facilities and 44 public facilities have been accredited while 60 field agents have been deployed to facilitate the enrolment of the people into the scheme.
“Currently, health facilities have been put in place at rural areas like Makoko and some areas within Alimosho where 2000 people have registered.
“In all, 120,000 residents have so far been registered on the scheme while the total number of people who have started accessing healthcare is about 5,000 residents,” Dr Idris said.
