LASG connects Ajah to Bariga by boat with new waterfront jetty

In a bid to improve water transportation in Lagos, the state government has commissioned the Bariga Waterfront Jetty at Ilaje road, Shomolu Local Government. Five out of the ferries procured by the state government are also being commissioned for the use of Lagosians

Bariga Waterfront Jetty sits on a reclaimed land area of 2000m with a parking facility that will accommodate no fewer than 150 cars and ample space for park and ride buses for those that will prefer to park their cars and enjoy the ferry services to their various destinations.

According to the Lagos state government, “Ferry services will be provided from the terminal to connect other existing terminals such as Ipakodo in Ikorodu axis, Badore in Ajah axis and the recently commissioned Five Cowrie Creek Terminal in Falomo and Marina terminal.”

“Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration has made a concerted effort to reduce pressure on Lagos roads by promoting integrated transportation which is progressively taking advantage of the vast waterways that Lagos is endowed with. The State Government had embarked on waterfront infrastructure project which includes the dredging of viable waterways route to provide alternative and reduce the travel time of road users,” the Lagos State government said in a statement released on Tuesday.

The new terminal in additional to a well-lit surrounding had complementary facilities such as ticketing office, passenger sitting area, restaurant, mini mart, relaxation area, boatyard as well as security water towers.
