Kaduna Govt Seals Banks Over N292 Million Tax Debt

SWITZERLAND, JANUARY 14 – Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, KADIRS, has sealed off some bank branches in Kaduna for been indebted to the tuned of N292 million.

The affected banks are three branches each of the First City Monument Bank, FCMB, and Keystone Bank in Kaduna.

Report has it that the branches sealed off by the revenue agency as a result of over tax liabilities and PAYE are located at Sabon Tasha, Ali Akilu, Bank Road and Yakubu Gowon Way.

Report also has it that FCMB is owing over N72 million in tax liabilities while Keystone bank is also owning over N220 million.

The affected branches, according to report, were also sealed off over PAYE, non-remittance of PAYE and with holding tax.

Most customers of the affected banks interviewed expressed delight with the steps taken by the state revenue agency, saying that the right thing should be done by government and authorities concerned for the country to move forward in all spheres of life.
