Few days to the end of his tenure, the EFCC has put the outgoing governor of Ekiti State and prominent critic of the APC-led Federal government, Ayodele Fayose on its watch list.
The EFCC has also written to the Customs services to watch out for Fayose and from leaving the country through any of the borders and arrest him the moment he is sighted.
The EFCC letter stated that the governor is under investigations for various crimes, including Abuse of office, Case of conspiracy, Official corruption, theft and money laundering
The governor described the move as petty especially as he had already informed the anti-graft agency of his willingness to answer any questions they might have for him when he leaves office.
Governor Fayose also denied claims that he plans to fly out of the country as soon as his tenure ends and insists that despite intimidation by the EFCC he will remain in the PDP.
In a tweet on Sunday, the governor said the anti-graft agency should expect him after he hands over power on October 16, as he earlier promised. He added that he is not afraid of being investigated.
Meanwhile Nigerians have been reacting to this development. While many find this move by the EFCC petty and childish, some people argue that its welcome since the governor just approved N10 billion supplementary budget in Ekiti state and the EFCC needs to investigate what the fund is meant for.

I have never seen such pettiness in my entire life. As a sitting Governor, Ayo Fayose has full immunity and can travel to any country that he pleases until his tenure lapses. The Buhari administration is utterly shameless. No man is God and their time will soon be over. pic.twitter.com/xvHC2KwStx

EFCC placed a sitting governor like Fayose, with constitutional immunity on watch list & not allowed to leave the country, but someone like Kemi Adeosun with criminal offence & no immunity, left the country with no EFCC stopping her. Double standard, & selective prosecution.

Fayose just signed the 10 billion Naira supplementary budget a month to leaving office, and all his supporters that like crying more than the bereaved won’t see that, until he’s called to come and explain then they will shout witch hunting @freshfmibadan

Kemi is APC.
Fayose is PDP.
Kemi can go.
Fayose must stay.
That is the Nigeria we live in now…
