The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen the bank accounts of the Akwa Ibom state government, media reports indicate.
Media outlet, the Cable reports that a top official of the government disclosed this on Wednesday.
The source said Udom Emmanuel, the governor, and accountant-general of the state were shocked by the development.
The report of the freezing of Akwa Ibom government accounts happened 24 hours after the commission blocked those of Benue government.
This is also happening barely hours after the official defection from PDP to APC of the former Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio, who is from Akwa Ibom State. Akpabio has been reportedly estranged with his former godson and governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel.
