COVID-19: Six Ondo Lawmakers Reportedly Test Positive After Exposure to Gov Akeredolu’s Sneeze

SWITZERLAND, JULY 03 – No fewer than six members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have reportedly tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

According to media sources, these were the lawmakers that had followed Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to Abuja for the submission of his nomination form in his re-election bid.

A video of that event had emerged, showing governor Akeredolu sneezing without facemasks and exposing the lawmakers, who were also not protected.

The governor, on Wednesday, announced his positive, but asymptomatic status for the infection and has since been observing his mandatory 14-day- isolation period even as his wife, Betty has also tested positive to the virus.

Today’s Echo had earlier reported that the governor may have become the latest super spreader of the coronavirus as he has inadvertently exposed many people in the APC to infection, including members at the party’s headquarters in Abuja who are now apprehensive.

On Thursday, Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Wahab Adegbenro, died from COVID-19, right after governor Akeredolu announced he was positive.

Mr Adegbenro died on Monday after he was rushed to a hospital in Owo after contracting Coronavirus.
