COVID-19: 87 New Cases in Nigeria as Worldwide Tally Inches Closer to 3 Million

SWITZERLAND, APRIL 26 – The National Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has announced additional 87 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria bringing the total to 1182. This is also as the total confirmed cases in the world inches closer to 2 million with the United States alone accounting for almost a million confirmed cases.

According to John Hopkins University, the total confirmed cases at at 9.am on April 26 is 2,923,285 with the US having 960,896 cases. Total COVID-19 related deaths in the world stands at 203,308 with the US alone having 54,265.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 outbreak has reached 29 states including the FCT, with Lagos being the epicentre. There are worries that the rate of infection is spiking in Northern states like Kano, Borno, Gombe and Katsina. Also, according to NCDC, 35 persons have died from COVID-19 while 222 have been discharged so far.
