SWITZERLAND, MAY 31 – President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca(Makkah) to attend the conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation(OIC).
Today’s Echo gathers that Buhari was received at the airport by the Deputy Governor of the Makkah region, Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
“President Muhammadu Buhari arrives Royal Terminal of King Abdulaziz Int’l Airport, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for 14th session of the Summit Conference of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC. He was received by Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Dep Gov Makkah region,” the presidency announced on Thursday evening.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation founded in 1969 has 57 members, 56 of which are also member states of the United Nations with 47 countries being Muslim majority countries. The collective population of OIC member states is over 1.6 billion as of 2011.
