SWITZERLAND, OCTOBER 10 – President Muhammadu Buhari has held his first meeting with the newly-formed Economic Advisory Council(EAC).
The EAC was constituted last month to advise him on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth; and a range of internal and global economic issues. It replaced the Economic Management Team(EMT), headed by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo. The move sparked rumours of a growing rift between the president and his deputy.
During the meeting, the president administered oaths of office on members of the EAC, and also set out an agenda and expectations from the Council, at the State House, Abuja.
Besides the members of the EAC, those present include the Chief of Staff to the President (COS); Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF); Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning; Minister of State, Budget and National Planning.
The Economic Advisory Council (EAC) is chaired by Dr. Doyin Salami. Vice Chairman is Dr. Mohammed Sagagi, while the Secretary to the Council is Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Development Policy.
