Buhari Dissolves APC NWC, Appoints Yobe Governor as Chairman, Caretaker Committee

SWITZERLAND, JUNE 25 – Following the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Executive Council of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has dissolved the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party during a special meeting organized by the Giadom faction on Thursday.

“The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling party, the APC has just commenced at the State House, Abuja. President Buhari, VP Osinbajo, Governors and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party and other members of the NEC are in attendance,” Personal Assistant to the president on New Media, Bashir Ahmad tweeted Thursday afternoon.

“Following the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been dissolved,” Ahmad added.

Today’s Echo gathers that the party has formed a caretaker committee and appointed the governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni to head it.

The party’s NEC, under Buhari, has also ratified the result of the APC primary in Edo State, in which Pastor Ize-Iyamu emerged the party’s flagbearer.

The President has also called for the immediate suspension of all pending litigations involving the party and its members.

He condemned the recent crisis within the party, stressing the need for members to enforce party discipline.

Governor Mai Mala Buni was immediately sworn in at the meeting by the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami.
