Breaking: Two Nigerian fighter jets crash in Abuja, one pilot confirmed dead

Two airplanes belonging to the Nigerian Air force have crashed in Abuja, FCT during a rehearsal for Independence anniversary displays.

The Nigerian Air Force confirmed the incidence with a short statement:

“I wish to confirm that an air incident involving 2 Nigerian Air Force aircraft taking part in the rehearsals for the 58th Independence Day Celebrations occurred this morning in Abuja. Details will be communicated later. Thank you” IBIKUNLE DARAMOLA Air Commodore DOPRI announced.

Details of the accident are still sketchy but Today’s Echo can confirm that at least one pilot is dead as at the time of filing this report.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola confirmed the death of the pilot:

“It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce that one of the pilots who successfully ejected from one of the F-7Ni aircraft that crashed earlier today has passed on. May his soul RIP. Additional details on the incident will be communicated later. Thank you
