The Nigerian Senate has passed the 2019 Appropriation bill after passing three readings during its plenary on Tuesday.

Today’s Echo gathered that a sum of N8.916 trillion was approved as the budget for the 2019 fiscal year.

The amount passed by the apex legislative chamber is, however, N86 billion higher than the N8.83 trillion initially submitted to the National Assembly in December 2018 for approval by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Today’s Echo gathers that the added N86 billion includes N10billion to be provided to assist victims of Zamfara State crises, as reported by the official Twitter handle of the NIgerian Senate.

“I want to thank our colleagues, particularly for their understanding and for us to be able to meet todays deadline in passing the Bill and thank the committee on appropriation too.
I hope that with this Budget passed, the Executive will also ensure the full implementation of the Budget for the benefit of Nigerians as a whole, ” Senate President, Bukola Saraki told his fellow Senators.
