As part of his scheduled plans to tour the South East of the country, President Buhari will tomorrow, commence a 2-day tour of Anambra and Ebonyi States.
Analysts believe Buhari’s visit to the South-East is part of plans lined up to canvas support for him across the country ahead of his anticipated campaign for a second term in 2019.
Since Buhari’ s ascendancy to the presidency in 2015, there has been a strong opposition to the president from the region, with many Igbo people complaining of marginalization. The South East is also a bastion of the opposition PDP and Buhari could not win any of the region’s 5 states during the presidential election.
The president’s aides are trying to maximize the impact of his visit with lots of publicity and up to date information about his activities. They have created a twitter handle, #PMBinSE, to promote the visit and properly communicate events to the public.
