After visiting Lagos to commission five grand projects on Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari is due to visit Maiduguri, Borno State on Thursday, April 25.
“President Buhari is in Lagos to commission a number of projects. He will be in Maiduguri, Borno State tomorrow,” presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Borno State government has declared Thursday a Public holiday in the state to properly welcome the president.
An announcement by the state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, on Wednesday read: “Sequel to the impending official visit of His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Borno State, the Borno State Government has declared tomorrow, Thursday, 25th April 2019 as a public holiday.
“In view of this, members of the general public are hereby urged to troop out en masse to receive Mr. President and his entourage.
“Government regrets any inconvenience that may be caused to the general public and appeals for their support, understanding and cooperation during the visit.
Borno State is at the heart of the Boko Haram insurgency, which has consumed over 50,000 lives since 2008.
