The Nigerian Army has revealed that the remnant of the Boko Haram insurgents, having been defeated and depleted, are now sneaking into towns to get food, logistics and weapons.

According to the Army, Boko Haram’s current depleted state is due to the effectiveness of the army’s Operation Lafiya Dole, going on in the North-East.

“The recent strategy adopted by the untiring and dogged troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in conducting robust and aggressive fighting patrols coupled with simultaneous clearance operations within the North East has been highly effective,” The Nigeria Army stated in a message available to Today’s Echo.

“They are presently feeling the colossal storm of the joint operations and are now looking for ways to sneak into town for food supplies, logistics and most importantly weapons.”

The Army also said its actions were aimed to complement the efforts of Operation Yancin Tafki by the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) currently ongoing along the borders of the lake chad region.

The MNJTF consists of forces from five African countries fighting Boko Haram; Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Benin Republic and Niger.
