The ongoing protests in Makurdi Benue state against the incessant killings of innocent people by Fulani herdsmen seems to have taken a dangerous turn. There are reports currently on online media indicating that the military has fired on protesters in Makurdi, killing several people.
Gruesome mages have also appeared on the internet, of bloodied dead bodies, apparently shot by the military.
A report by a member of popular online forum, nairaland goes thus:
‘Well, the protest went violent in some parts as the protesters were said to have hauled stones and wood onto the military men and police who came with tear gas to bring calm to the situation.. In retaliation, the military were said to have fired some shots into the crowd killing some persons in the process notably in SRS axis of north bank, makurdi’
If this is true, it is very unfortunate and cruel!
