The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Atiku Abubakar has emerged the winner in the online poll conducted by Today’s Echo on its website for presidential contestants.
Although there are over 70 contestants for president, the poll was conducted on 9 candidates. The other candidates are President Muhammadu Buhari(APC), Omoyele Sowore(AAC), Fela Durotoye(ANN), Kingsley Moghalu(YPP), Eunice Atuejide(NIP), Donald Duke(SDP), Oby Ezekwesili(ACPN) and Segun Mimiko(ZLP).
The poll was launched on the online newspaper’s website in October 2018 shortly after Atiku emerged the candidate of the PDP and was closed on Friday, February 15, 2017; one day to the presidential election.
Two of the candidates, Ezekwesili and Mimiko have withdrawn from the presidential race while Duke’s fate seems uncertain after his party withdrew its support for him.
According to the result, 38 per cent of respondents picked Atiku as the candidate they are likely to vote for in 2019.
Muhammadu Buhari, Atiku’s major opponent came second with 29 per cent. The scores for the remaining candidates are listed below:
