The Senate President and Director of the Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign, Bukola Saraki has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) of plotting to postpone the presidential election rescheduled for February 23.
Saraki, a prominent chieftain of the PDP spoke during a meeting of the PDP National Executive Committee(NEC) at its National headquarters on Monday. The party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and National chairman, Uche Secondus were among prominent party members present at the meeting.
We know all that drama you saw yesterday, all the Nollywood caucus meeting of APC yesterday, was because they are looking for another postponement. They don’t want election to hold on Saturday,” Saraki said
“NEC, we know that they do not want you to hold that election on Saturday, but we want you to hold that election on Saturday… but we want elections on Saturday, Nigerians want elections on Saturday, the world wants elections on Saturday,” Saraki added
He also threw a jab at President Muhammadu Buhari for his ‘Snatch and Die’ comment at the APC caucus meeting on Monday.
The president had warned potential election disrupters that they would do so at the their own lives.
The president said he had directed the Military and the Police to be ruthless with vote riggers.
“Anyone who tries to lead thugs to snatch ballot boxes will do so at the expense of his own life,”
“I do not expect anybody to make any disturbance. I have briefed the law enforcement agencies and the military to identify hot spots, flash points and they should be prepared to move.”
According to Saraki, the president’s statement is a call for jungle justice
” We want to be among the comity of nations that believe in the rule of law. What we heard yesterday is no what this country represents,” Saraki said
“Again, the choices before Nigerians on Saturday are clear; do you want a president that obeys the rule of law or a president that believes in jungle justice,” he added
