SWITZERLAND, JUNE 24 – President Muhammadu Buhari has endorsed Victor Giadom as the Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and is attending the virtual National Executive Council(NEC) meeting organised by his faction, according to presidential media aide, Garba Shehu.

In the aftermath of the removal of Adams Oshiomole as the All Progressives Congress National Chairman by the Appeal Court, two separate acting chairman of the party emerged.

The Deputy National Secretary of the APC, Chief Victor Giadom, who had earlier been appointed by the court to replace Oshiomole, declared himself the Acting National Chairman. The National Working Committee ignored Giadom and appointed former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi as the acting National Chairman of the party. Ajimobi, who is sick with COVID-19, is been represented by Hilliard-Eta.

Shehu tweeted on Wednesday afternoon:

“The President has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman,” ,an indication that Giadom may have gained the upper hand in the battle.

“Because he will always act in accordance with the law, the President will be attending the virtual meeting Giadom called for tomorrow afternoon.

“We urge the media to stop promoting manufactured controversies and to not give any further room for mischievous interpretations of the law on this matter,” Shehu added.
