Buhari visits Lagos for APC campaign rally
Residents of Lagos Island today, Saturday, 9th February, abandoned their homes and businesses to cheer President Muhammadu Buhari, who is in Lagos for a campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress.
Shouts of ‘sai baba’ ‘PMB for 2019’ rented the air and hundreds of brooms brandished as the president and his entourage passed through Adeniji Adele road on his way from the Oba’s palace.
Shortly before he appeared at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, venue for the rally, Buhari had first gone to Iga Idugaran Palace to pay homage to the Oba of Lagos. He was accompanied by APC stalwart, Bola Tinubu and other chieftains of the party.
It was however reported that despite the mammoth crowd that trooped out of their homes to have a glimpse of the president’s convoy and those that were seated at the stadium as early as 11.AM, the usual early morning traffic jam on major roads in Lagos was absent as motorists and commuters moved freely from one part of the state to another.
