Mikel Obi to join championship club Middlesbrough

Super Eagles Captain John Mikel obi is set to join championship club Middlesbrough after terminating his contract with CSL side Tianjin TEDA.

German club Wolfsburg and Italian giants Roma were said to be closely monitoring Mikel Obi for the possibility of getting his signature, but the ex Chelsea star decided to return to England.

Mikel is keen to return to England where his wife and children have stayed after his move abroad.

According to the report by UK Sun, Mikel Obi traveled to the United Kingdom on Tuesday morning, January 22, before he had his medical examination at the Riverside stadium.

Mikel made 249 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and was part of the team that beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League final in 2012.

Tony Pulis’ Boro are fifth in the Championship, six points behind second-placed Norwich City.
