A student of the Lagos State University, LASU, identified as Kingsley Gabriel, on Monday, jumped into the Lagoon from Falomo Bridge, in a bid to commit suicide.
However, he was quickly rescued from drowning by Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, officials who responded swiftly to the incident.
Gabriel was later taken to the Falomo Police Station. It is not clear why he decided to end his life, but he kept wailing and saying, “leave me let me just die. What’s in this life.”

Meanwhile, comments have trailed the viral video which showed Gabriel being dragged from the dock to the police station, with people wondering why the police men had to drag him like a criminal caught in the act.

Some suggested that he may have committed a crime and wants to escape the law by drowning in the lagoon. Others while trying to make light of the situation, commended the LASWA officials for the rescue which marred Gabriel’s plans to escape the hardship in the country, saying, “Thank God LASWA ruined your plans to leave us in this hell hole country to suffer alone, we must all stay here and suffer together.”
