Hillary’s bio: Chimamanda replies Nigerian critics with epistle (Read here)

Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has responded to the criticisms that trailed her encounter with ex-American Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

Chimamanda took to her Facebook wall and wrote a lengthy post to address critics, especially Nigerians who had a problem with her statement. She had said that she was “upset” with the former US presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton’s Twitter bio, which begins with “Wife.”

Since the report, people from different spheres of the Nigerian society have condemned Chimamanda, accusing her of being a “fanatical feminist.”

The author had interviewed Hillary Clinton at the PEN World Voices Festival lecture in Manhattan on Sunday night and one of her questions had been on why the former First Lady of the United States made her Twitter bio to begin with “Wife.”

Chimamanda wanted to know if it was Hillary’s preference to first be identified in relation to her domesticity, and, if so, why.

An amused Hillary simply responded, “When you put it like that, I’m going to change it.” She then added that women should be able to celebrate both their personal and professional achievements.

Chimamanda however took to her verified Facebook wall to reply to her critics:
