Empowerment Coach of the Year, Rolls Out Mental Health fairs

Awe Simbiat Atinuke, a social entrepreneur who is passionate about women empowerment and leadership, wins the 3rd edition of the Outstanding Women Awards as The Outstanding Empowerment Coach of the Year with her Social Enterprise, The Sisterhood of Successful Women in Nigeria Foundation. The founder is a 26 years old Nigerian, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass communication from Lagos State University.

The award, presented in October 2019, was held at the Celebration Gardens and Event Centre, GRA-IKEJA, amidst pomp and pageantry. Interviewed, the outstanding coach of the year says, ‘To be recognized as the Outstanding empowerment coach of the year is amazing and I am truly honoured. I look forward to transforming more lives via collaborations and with the support of the government, financial institutions and corporate brands.’

In the same interview, she revealed her upcoming mental health fairs for undergraduates; the first is to be held at the University of Ibadan, on the 17th of January 2020, with 5000 attendants in view. The event promises to be the first and largest mental health awareness fair on campus, with the accompaniment of free group therapy by certified behavioural therapists, counselling and master classes, trainings from tech and entrepreneurial coaches, freebies and entertainment. The other fairs will hold at the University of Lagos, University of Port Harcourt and University of Abuja in April, August and November 2020 respectively.

SOSWIN’S primary objective is to conduct Mental Health fairs in various universities to totally eradicate the killer syndrome called suicide among the youths, undertake the widespread education of the Nigerian public on the recognition of mental health disorder as a disease and the need for societal and family support and the avoidance of stigmatization of people suffering from mental health.

The Outstanding Women Awards, which started in 2017 and now in its third edition, is the brainchild of Success Adaeze Abu-Idris, under the flagship of Sail Edutainment Media, an event expert media that promotes social values through organising educative and entertaining programmes and events and also creates room for mentoring. The Outstanding Women Awards is aimed at honouring women in the society, who give their time and energy to make the society a better place. Success Adaeze Abu-Idris who is a teacher, a performing artist and a motivational speaker, is also a regular face in the parliament of the Patito’s Gang talk show in the Channels Television and a panelist in Inside-Out with Agatha.

Awe Simbiat Atinuke says her Nigerian dream is to serve humanity and that the award has encouraged her to forge ahead in her pursuit of youth empowerment and leadership. She vows to tenaciously pursue her mission for SOSWIN, which is to raise African young leaders who are emotionally stable and can create innovative solutions and also execute life-transforming ideas in Nigeria and beyond.
