COVID-19: Worries as Confirmed Cases, Death Toll Accelerate Ahead of Planned Relaxation of Lockdown

SWITZERLAND, Nigeria has recorded 220 additional cases of COVID-19 as death toll from the pandemic in the country reaches 85.

This was revealed in the latest report from the National Centre for Disease Control(NCDC). According to the NCDC, Nigeria now has a total of 2388 cases with 85 deaths and 385 people discharged.

There are worries that the infection may soon overwhelm the health sector of Africa’s most populous nation as infection rates continue to increase amidst relaxation of lockdown in certain parts of the country.

Kano state, which has recorded very high number of cases for three two straight days, recorded only two cases while Lagos the epicentre recorded 62.

On Saturday, Nigeria joined the list of five African countries with the highest number of cases, displacing Ghana.
