At least 20 passengers were reported killed by fire in a road accident along the Epinmi-Isua-Akoko Road in Ondo State.
The auto crash, which occurred on Tuesday in Akoko South-East Local Government Area of the state, was also said to have left other passengers with varying degrees of injuries.
Channels Television gathered that the incident took place when two vehicles had a head-on collision with each other on the road.
An eyewitness who spoke under anonymity said the accident involved a 14-passenger Toyota bus and a Range Rover SUV.
He said both vehicles collided with each other, resulting in an inferno which burnt some passengers of the vehicles beyond recognition.
The witness, however, noted that the drivers of the two vehicles survived the accident, but with injuries and were quickly rushed to a hospital where they were being given medical treatment.
Sources also revealed that the remains of the victims of the accident have been deposited at the morgue of the Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Ikare-Akoko.
Meanwhile, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) deployed in the area were said to have arrived quickly at the scene of the accident to contain the situation.
The spokesman for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr Femi Joseph, has also confirmed the incident.
He blamed the ghastly accident on reckless driving on the part of the drivers of the two vehicles involved.
