Liverpool striker and Premier League top scorer Mohammed stated that he would swap winning the Golden Boot for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) trophy.

Salah, 25, who took his league goalscoring haul to 30 against Bournemouth last Saturday maintains that clinching the UCL title is the ultimate goal for both himself and the side.

“If you had a choice between the Champions League and personal award, of course, the Champions League. I have no doubt;  the Champions League. To win the Champions League is huge for everyone. I don’t care about the rest,” he revealed.

The Egyptian, however, did not disregard his desire Golden Boot but stated that a team trophy is more important. According to Salah:”Of course, the golden boot is in my mind. I cannot lie — it is in my mind. But you can see with the team everyone tries to pass the ball to me to help me.”

His 30 league goals make him the highest scoring player of African descent and one behind the league record of 31 jointly held by Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez, and Andrew Shearer in a 38 game season with four games to play.

Salah is poised to win both the Golden Boot, with his 5 goal lead over Tottenham’s Harry Kane, and the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year award over.

Also in the running for the PFA award are David De Gea ( Manchester United), Leroy Sane (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) and David Silva (Manchester City).

Salah resumes his quest for the Golden Boot when Liverpool lock horns with West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns this Saturday.
