The Kano State Police Command has banned any form of rally, demonstration, procession or assembly in the state until further notice.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abdullahi Haruna, and made available to newsmen in Kano on Saturday, the Police Command also withdrew permission given to members of the public, civil society organisations, political parties, NGOs and other groups.
Explaining that the order has become expedient in order to prevent any threat, breach of the peace or break down of law and order in the face of various security challenges in the state, the statement warned that defaulters of the directive would be made to face the full weight of the law.
“The measure is to assure a lasting peace and unity in the State,“ the statement quoted Haruna as saying.
