Cargo delivery by rail from Lagos to Kaduna commences

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna has flagged off the first cargo delivery by rail, at Nigeria’s first functioning Inland Dry Port in Kaduna State. The project was designed to enable ease of movement of goods from the South to the Northern part of the country.

“The Federal Government has concluded plans to start cargo delivery service by rail to the Kaduna Inland Dry Port. The programme will be flagged-off tomorrow in Kakuri, Kaduna by Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi and Gov. Kaduna, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai will be in attendance,” media aide to president Buhari, Ahmad Bashir said via a tweet on Monday.

“From tomorrow, containers and oil tankers will begin moving goods from Lagos ports, via the newly acquired Railway wagons ,to Kaduna in the North. Amaechi also ordered 300 wagons for the Lagos-Ibadan railway. This measure will take hundreds of tankers off some highways with time.”
